My Journey

Like many people, I have experienced highs and lows, good times and bad, both physically and mentally. In recent years through participating in endurance sports, overcoming personal fitness challenges, helping family and friends achieve their own goals…I have found keeping fit, healthy and active to be the best medicine of all.

Since childhood physical exercise and sport has always been important to me, including: sailing & dinghy racing, football, tennis, martial arts, strength & conditioning, cross-country hiking, mountain hiking, long distance cycling, road & cross country running. I have always valued keeping active, fit and challenged.

Why was this so important to me? After working for 32 years in an office in London, stuck behind a desk sitting unnaturally for hours on end, exercise provided that all important pressure-release and escape from the physical and mental monotony of work.

In my 30’s I started to realise that participating in endurance sports, mainly cycling and running, gave me the opportunity to be a much happier and balanced version of myself. I fell in love with the challenge of fitness, strength and endurance sports and have always trained myself, learning what works and what doesn’t, gaining almost 25 years of experience.

Having undertaken ‘000s of miles of long distance cycling events across the UK and Europe over many years, my son and I pushed ourselves to train for and undertake the Ventoux Club Des Cingles challenge. A cycling endurance challenge involving climbing Mont Ventoux, France, from all 3 sides non-stop in one day. 137 kilometres with over 4,400 metres of ascent in temperatures reaching 35-37 degrees, perhaps August not being the wisest move!

By 2018 I had swapped my personal training, goals and challenges to running. The endurance base built through a lifetime of undertaking sports and fitness served me very well, especially the long distance cycling. I fell in love with running for its shear simplicity, release and freedom. Achieving a half marathon time that placed me within the elite category by age, something that I am currently training to improve on.

I soon realised that I wanted to change my life so that work became a vocation, obtaining my personal trainer qualifications so that I could share my passion with others. I have always enjoyed helping others with their training, encouraging, helping and guiding them to achieve their goals.
